Some Pants #2

84 " x 23" thermographic print

I think pants are funny. And I like to illustrate their various shapes, sizes and styles en masse and arranged as a pattern of their own. Each pair contains an exaggerated interpretation of a fabric texture or decorative motif as a kind of historical record of the wearer's discretion. The use of thermographic printing, an outdated technology that is no longer in practical use, in enlargement, provides a delicious degradation of line quality and produces surprising scale-related details. The original art is drawn in pen and ink at 37% of the final print.
